“My kokorozashi is to ensure that the standard of living of people in my country and in the continent at large improve significantly through the use of engineering applications. Over the past year, I have focused particularly on how engineering can contribute to my country’s yearn for food sufficiency and security. I chose to focus on this issue because over 60% of the population of my country are engaged in agriculture directly or indirectly. Furthermore, improving agricultural practices and maximising output using robust and innovative agricultural engineering approaches will see the overall improvement of the livelihood of many Gambians, and this is what I want to achieve.

My degree programme has given me an immersive experience into engineering applications which I am certain will help in the implementation phase of my Ashinaga Proposal research project.”
