Each Ashinaga Scholar has lost one or both parents, and comes from economically-deprived backgrounds.
They each have a strong drive to help others, often starting initiatives to improve their communities before being selected by Ashinaga.
They are academically excellent, in the top 5% of their country’s school system.
We work in Africa because it is a continent with enormous challenges but even bigger potential.
Ashinaga Graduates Transform Their Communities.
Since 2019 — when the first two Ashinaga UK students completed their undergraduate courses — we have seen more and more students graduate and start making their impact on the African continent.
Examples of UK graduates making an impact in Africa include: teaching in medical universities, working as a civil engineer developing infrastructure, and doing policy analysis for a nation’s president.
