Scholarships for Impact
Equipping talented, orphaned African youth with the education and training needed to address community issues by widening access to top UK universities
To date, we’ve created 93 scholarships in a broad range of fields, from Law and Engineering, to International Development and Journalism, for youth from 24 countries across Africa.
We are looking for partners to join in creating new pathways for orphaned youth to gain the education and skills needed to make a significant impact on their communities.
Who: the best and brightest from 49 sub-Saharan African countries, aged 18-23, who have lost one or both parents and are committed to returning to the African continent to initiate change, innovation, and development.
Why: Fully funded scholarships at top UK universities will enable young African changemakers to access an education that propels them to enact positive change across the African continent. Combined with Ashinaga’s leadership programme, talented, orphaned youth will gain the skills, experience and training to become leaders in industry, society and innovation.
Our goal is not just education, but that through education and leadership development students can become leaders for their communities.
25% of the world’s leaders were educated in the UK.
Our work means that orphaned youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a passion for helping others, will be among those 25%.
